You might have seen people do a host of wild things in Tuckerman Ravine on Mount Washington in New Hampshire, from jumping off big cliffs to wiping out and sliding down the entire face. This guy takes it to another step. Rather than skiing or snowboarding down the legendary face, he speed-rides down it, skiing to take off and skiing to land but ultimately flying down most of the way.
It’s certainly a unique look at the ravine, and was probably quite the show for the other skiers, snowboarders, and hikers on the mountain.
If you find yourself interested in the concept of speed-flying, make sure to look into classes around the country. Speed-flying uses specially designed wings often to connect gliding with skiing and gliding in air. Speed-flying can include taking off and landing by ski but usually means staying in the air for the majority of the ride, while speed-riding includes skis for take-off, landing, and several moments of touching the ground throughout the ride.
