Chamonix.
Chamonix.

Chamonix is easily one of the most famous ski destinations in the world. Millions of people visit the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc valley every year, flocking to the stunning destination no matter the season.

Multiple different unconnected ski areas are found throughout the valley, some appealing more towards on-piste skiers, some appealing more to the off-piste lovers. Chamonix’s highlight really shines through in the freeride skiing and snowboarding options.

Alpine touring and freeriding is plentiful in the Chamonix area, with the legendary Vallé Blanche beginning at the top of the Aiguille du Midi. So if the French valley is so iconic for its expert skiing, should beginner/intermediate skiers bother making the trip? Or should they head to a different European destination? European ski instructor Marius Quast dove into the resort area, taking a look at its pros and cons.

Of course while a trip to Chamonix may be based around skiing and snowboarding, the area is equally loved for its amazing food, drinks, and après ski opportunities. So while the skiing might not be the most ideal for your likes or style, don’t let that deter you from an incredible, food filled vacation in France if that’s what you’re looking for.
