The Alpe d’Huez is home to one of Europe’s longest black runs is on the mountain, taking skiers and snowboarders almost 10 miles from the Pic Blanc at 10925 feet (3,330m) through the Sarenne gorges at 4954 feet (1,510m). But that’s not the mountain’s most well known run. The notorious Tunnel trail takes that title.
The run takes skiers and snowboarders through a 656 foot (200m) long tunnel before spitting them out on France’s steepest mogul field. Over the whole run skiers descend a total of 7234 feet (2,205 meters). It’s a mix of both unique terrain design and pure difficulty, and is definitely only for experienced skiers.
European ski instructor Marius Quast took on the run, sharing multiple videos of the experience to his YouTube channel.
The below video is an uncut journey of the run, showing it from top to bottom without many stops. It’s certainly a thigh burner.
