If you have tuned into the X Games in recent years you may have noticed that a new event has stolen the show. For decades big air, slopestyle and halfpipe competitions have been the centerpieces of the preeminent winter sports competition but there’s a new discipline that has captured the imagination of the viewers from around the world, the Knuckle Huck.
Knuckle Huck competitions use the same course as the Big Air jump but instead of launching off the jump, athletes utilize the rollover or “knuckle” to throw their most stylish high speed/low trajectory tricks as the ground falls away from them. The sport has seen a rapid rise in variety and progression and has become a fan favorite.
Knuckle Huck tricks can seem like sorcery, especially when pulled off in a resort setting. The following video is a perfect example of skier cruising down an average looking ski slope and pulling a rabbit out of his hat in the form of a knuckle huck hand drag. This is sensational.
