Yosemite National Park is world renown for its incredible climbing terrain but when conditions line up correctly there are opportunities for kayaking that are absolutely out of this world.
Professional skier Chris Benchetler was inside the park when he noticed some kayakers taking advantage of a temporary torrent fueled by spring snow melt and he pulled out his phone to film the action.
While this kayaker had a paddle in hand, it wasn’t much use as gravity took hold and pulled him straight down the steep face. In moment of sheer chaos the kayak actually launched airborne at peak speed after hitting a compression but held on and stayed upright. This is about as wild as it gets on a kayak.
