It’s been a solid snow year for Colorado, with several resorts on track to exceed their average snowfall total before the season comes to an end. The state’s two snowiest resorts this season might come as a bit of a surprise, with only one appearing in the top 5 snowiest ski areas in Colorado by average year. These two resorts have both surpassed the 300 inch snowfall mark, or 25 feet, this winter, putting them on track to keep the party going into the spring.
Copper Mountain – 303 inches
As of March 26, Copper Mountain is sitting at 303 inches, with 47 inches falling this month. Their base depth currently sits at 70 inches, and more snow could be on the way this weekend. Copper’s average annual snowfall is 305 inches, so they’ll almost certainly surpass that in the coming weeks. Copper is projected to close on May 11.
Winter Park Resort – 315 inches
Winter Park has seen 315 inches of snowfall this season, putting their base at 72 inches. Temperatures are quite warm across Colorado today, meaning some snow is certain to melt. Winter Park is a bit further from their average snowfall of 344.6 inches, but there’s still plenty of time this year for the snowfall total to climb. The Winter Park side is set to close on April 27, though Mary Jane will stay open for as long as possible.
Resorts Close To Breaching 25 Feet
Vail and Breckenridge are both fairly close to the 300 inch mark, with Vail just 8 inches away at 292 inches this season. Breckenridge is further, at 284 inches, but it’s still very possible before the season ends. Meanwhile, Steamboat (set to close on April 20), is sitting at 279 inches, and other ski resorts across the state could potentially climb over 300 inches before the snow stops coming down.
