An injured hiker who was unable to walk out was airlifted from Zion National Park on Sunday, March 2.

A crew from Hurricane Valley Fire & Rescue Station 49 was called to respond assist park rescue teams just before 9:30am. The hiker was injured in the Narrows, approximately 1.5 miles upstream.

When the team had arrived the patient was already receiving care from other hikers who happened to be health care providers. Despite being unable to walk out, the individual was stable.

Utah Department of Public Safety Star 9 helicopter was dispatched to airlift the patient out of the canyon. They were then transferred to M43 at a landing zone and transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
