The soon-to-be CEO of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming This June, Jackson Hole will have a new CEO.

Yesterday, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort announced that Mary Kate Buckley is set to retire as CEO on May 31st, 2025. Over the past seven years, she has overseen many major changes at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, including the addition of new lifts (like Thunder and Sublette), snowmaking infrastructure, hiking trails, and biking routes. Off the slopes, Jackson Hole has built more than 100 employee housing units during her tenure and transitioned to 100% wind energy. Ultimately, Buckley has done a great job in shaping Jackson Hole’s into one of the most modern ski resorts in the United States.

“The successes of the past seven years are a testament to the incredible team of employees I’ve had the privilege to lead,” said Mary Kate Buckley. “With the smooth transition from Kemmerer ownership to the Corbat and Macy families, I feel this is the right time to step down. The Kemmerers’ commitment to preserving independent ownership and entrusting JHMR’s stewardship to two families who share a deep passion and personal commitment gives me full confidence that the resort is in the best possible hands for our guests, employees, and community.”

On June 1, 2025, Doug Pierini will become the new CEO. Pierini is currently serving as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Jackson Hole and previously worked at Jackson Hole’s Mountain Sports School for a decade. He spent thirteen years with Vail Resorts as he was the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for the Western Region. Doug also served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Vail Resorts’ Eastern Region from 2019 through 2021.

“I consider my previous experience at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort one of the highlights of my life. My wife Leigh and I met while working for the Mountain Sports School, and we were eager to return to Jackson for years. I’m honored to step into this role and continue building on the strong foundation that Mary Kate and the entire JHMR team have created,” said Doug Pierini. “Jackson Hole holds a special place in my heart, and I look forward to working alongside this incredible community to help shape its future while staying true to its independent spirit.”

Before you start freaking out about the company that starts with a V, Jackson Hole just sold last year to a local ownership group. It’s staying in local hands and won’t be selling to Vail Resorts.

“Doug is a strong leader with a deep understanding of both the operational and cultural aspects that make Jackson Hole Mountain Resort so special,” said Mike Corbat, who’s one of the new owners of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. “His extensive experience at top resorts around the world, combined with his roots in this community, gives him a unique perspective on how to balance innovation with JHMR’s legacy. We are confident that his vision, leadership, and passion will not only preserve our independence but also propel JHMR into an exciting future.”
