Twin Bridges, California — Making the slopes skiable every day of the season is not a simple job. This is especially true during low tide winters. Thankfully, snow grooming technology has rapidly advanced in recent years. In addition, these advancements have helped the people who drive to become more knowledgeable.

Over at Sierra-at-Tahoe, grooming has become an even more important task following a devastating wildfire back in 2021. The fire damage resulted in the removal of many trees, opening up new areas for grooming.

In a video released this past weekend, Sierra-at-Tahoe’s snowmaking and grooming manager Quint Ross detailed the process for ensuring the grooming makes for the best conditions possible each day. He details the challenges faced so far this winter and what Sierra-at-Tahoe needs to do to create pristine conditions in a low snow season.

The California ski resort has needed to rely on its grooming team quite a bit this winter, as January was dry for them. However, Sierra-at-Tahoe is currently going through an atmospheric river event, receiving around 5″ of snow at its summit so far.
