If you’re a rafter or kayaker who loves recreating in Grand Canyon National Park and you do or do not want to see fees increased for non-commercial river trips, now is the time for you to speak up.

Introduction to Grand Canyon River Trips

Grand Canyon National Park is seeking public input of proposed fee increases for non-commercial river trips, with the increase set to take place on March 1, 2025.

While the $25 lottery application cost fee would remain the same, the park would increase the flat rate per-person cost from $90 to $310 for Lees Ferry to Diamond Creek and from $0 to $55 for Diamond Creek to Pearce Ferry.

These fees were last adjusted in November of 1998. The funds generated from the increase would help to cover expenses involved in the protection of the Colorado River corridor, mitigating impacts, and monitoring resources affected by recreational use. Currently both non-commercial and commercial river users contribute to these costs.

Those interested in submitting feedback can do so online at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/GRCA_River_Trip_Cost_Increase through January 30, 2025, or can submit written comments to the following address by January 30, 2025:
