Santa Fe, New Mexico — Things are going great for ski resorts in the Land of Enchantment. Ski resorts across New Mexico have received substantial snowfall this month, resulting in Pajarito and Sandia Peak opening for skiing and riding. Tomorrow, Ski Santa Fe will join the party.

On November 8th, Ski Santa Fe announced that it will open for the 2024-25 season on November 23rd. This will be Ski Santa Fe’s earliest opening since 2003. Ski Santa Fe will have 70 trails open, 28 of which will be groomed. The ski resort plans to operate five lifts, including the new Santa Fe Express, Millennium, Tesuque Peak, Easy Street, and Pine Flats.

This opening will include the debut of the Santa Fe Express, which will be dedicated Saturday at 8:30 a.m.. This new high-speed chairlift replaced the 1988 fixed-grip quad. The Super Chief Quad was a pretty slow ride, with a ride time of ten minutes. The new Santa Fe Express chairlift has a quick ride time of around four minutes. The new detachable high-speed quad chairlift has an uphill carrying capacity of 2000 people per hour. The top and bottom terminals are around the same location. The new loading and unloading ramps will make it easier for beginners to get on and off.

The new chairlift passed the load test in October, so it’s ready to go for this opening weekend.
