Big news for Canadian skiers and snowboarders, Whistler Blackcomb will be kicking off their 2024/2025 ski season one day early, with Blackcomb Mountain opening on Thursday, November 21, followed by Whistler Mountain on Friday, November 22. This season comes with several upgrades to the British Columbian resort, including a new 6-person Jersey Cream Express chairlift.

“Witnessing the energy, dedication and enthusiasm from our team as they work to prepare these dual mountains for the 2024/25 ski and ride season has been inspiring. The countless hours of front-line staff training, including our brand-new lift experience team, as well as the snowmaking, grooming, lift maintenance, ski patrol preparation, and retail, rental and restaurant ramp up, are all for this day. Guests from the Sea to Sky Corridor, the Lower Mainland, across Canada and around the world are in for another season of unparalleled mountain adventure, highlighted by all-new experiences and returning favourites.”  – Belinda Trembath, VP & COO of Whistler Blackcomb.

The Jersey Cream upgrade marks the fourth improvement to Whistler Blackcomb’s lift infrastructure since 2022, including the Big Red Express upgrade, Creekside Gondola upgrade, and the Fitzsimmons Express upgrade. The hands-free Mobile Pass and Mobile Lift Tickets will also be available through the MyEpic app beginning this winter.

The lifts on Blackcomb Mountain will start spinning at 8:30am on November 21, providing access to 87 acres of terrain through Blackcomb Gondola, Excalibur Gondola, Excelerator, Jersey Cream Express, and Catskinner. Beginning on November 22, 187 total acres will be available to guests, with the Whistler Village Gondola, Emerald Express, and Franz’s Chair opening on Whistler Mountain.

Opening day will include music from DJ Cat at the top of Blackcomb, treats, and prize packs for the first guests to arrive in line at Blackcomb Gondola. On Friday, a traditional welcome from the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre (SLCC) in Skiers’ Plaza will take place in Whistler Village, and music, DJs, sponsored prizes, and more will celebrate the start of the season.
