Located just 21 miles from Boulder, Eldora Ski Resort is already one of the easiest ski areas to access from many of the Front Range cities, but service with the Regional Transport District (RTD) makes it even easier. Eldora is set to open for skiing and snowboarding on Thursday, November 7, and visitors should consider taking advantage of the RTD bus system.
The RTD NB Route bus departs from Downtown Boulder Station at 1800 14th Street in downtown Boulder then brings skiers and snowboarders right to the Alpenglow high-speed chairlift, with just a few stops in between. Those coming from outside Boulder can take a host of different bus options to reach Downtown Boulder Station, hopping on the same bus into the mountains from there. A day pass for RTD busses and rails cost just $5.50, and that counts the bus to Eldora.
Those hoping to take the bus should make to check the route schedule ahead of time, as some departure times don’t travel as far as Eldora Ski Resort. For example, the 5:40am bus from Downtown Boulder Station’s last stop is at Nederland High School and does not travel up to the resort.
Luggage bays on the bus will accommodate ski and snowboard gear, but it must be stored in a ski bag. Additionally, on weekends and certain holidays, Eldora offers free shuttles between Boulder County Justice Center and the ski resort, with multiple eastbound and westbound departures throughout the day.
