FRANCE – In a place like Chamonix, skiing is often possible year round. The summer skiing might not be the best but if there’s snow you can ski it. Sometimes this means hiking, sometimes it means taking tourist transportation, and sometimes it means taking cable-car system. In this case, film director/mountain guide/ski coach Sébastien Montaz-Rosset had to push his way through a group of tourists at the top of his line to score some less-than-perfect chalky October turns.
This looks to be off the top of the Aiguille Du Midi, accessed by the highest cable car in France. Many alpine routes, including ski touring, mountaineering, and climbing, can be found in this area, though it is difficult terrain and should only be attempted by experts with enough experience.
Montaz-Rosset must have felt very cool walking past that group of tourists to get out on the snow, hearing them awestruck by the fact that he was going skiing. That snow does not look to be the most appealing though, and the potential fall looks incredibly high consequence. Not sure if it’s worth it for those turns but maybe it gets a good bit better further down.
