Wilmington, New York — Over the past two days, there have been many snow sightings across the Northeast, including in the Adirondacks.
Whiteface Mountain was one of those places, with snow sightings on the summit and the Toll Road. They saw snow on the summit yesterday, with even more snow last night. Due to this snowfall, the Toll Road is closed for the day.
When it snows on the Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway, skiers race up the toll road to secure the first turns. So, who got the first tracks?
The answer to that trivia question is Wes Poe, who went up with some friends in the early morning hours to ski some dust on gravel crust. Wes also brought his skis out for Whiteface’s first snowfall of the season, but that didn’t really qualify as turns. Congrats to Wes & his crew!
