Flood water rips into Lake Powell.

Utah – The Lake Powell area was battered by a large thunder/hail storm on June 21, leaving tons of people battered by large chunks of ice on the water. The people in the video below were hiking in a slot canyon just 10 minutes before the weather kicked in. Had they been in there when the water came, this story would be quite a lot different.

this one almost got us hiking a slot canyon! BE CAREFUL!

Let this be a lesson on checking weather before you go for a hike. There are times when storms seem to come out of nowhere, but making sure you have a good idea of the weather can save your life. This goes for anywhere, not just in slot canyons or on lakes. Hiking or just generally being outside, especially this time of year, comes with risks of severe storms and you should always keep a close eye on the weather.
