I’d say I’m pretty comfortable on most chairlifts. Sure, when they get blown around a bit too much I might grip the metal a bit harder, but I don’t think I’ve ever properly been terrified by a lift.

The one thing that does spook me quite a bit is a downhill chairlift. I don’t know what it is, but something about that movement just isn’t right. That, mixed with the sudden “aha” moment of going downhill, is what makes the Leissieres chairlift in Val d’Isere seem so gosh darn terrifying.
