Yesterday, my local fire department made an impressive rescue.

On Sunday, January 15th, the New London Fire Department rescued a deer that was stuck in Pleasant Lake. Some parts of the lake had partially frozen, meaning the deer probably thought it was safe to walk on. When the fired department arrived, the deer was stuck in the water around three hundred feet from the shoreline. Thanks to the team’s cold weather gear and ice rescue sled, they were able to grab the deer from the chilly waters. After being rescued, the deer went back into the woods.

The ultimate lesson from this story is to be extremely cautious on bodies of water during the wintertime, even if it’s ice-covered. Thank you firefighters across the world for all your hard work in a variety of circumstances.
