Are you looking for a guide for all the big changes coming soon to North American ski resorts? You’ve come to the right place.
Yesterday, the good folks over at PeakRankings released a video that detailed the major projects that are coming to North American ski resorts during the 2023-24 season. PeakRankings broke these improvements down into four tiers: Minor Improvements (Tier 1), Noteworthy Improvements (Tier 2), Substainsal Investments (Tier 3), and Game-Changing Investments (Tier 4).
Minor improvements consist of changes like snowmaking improvements, new employee housing, capacity upgrades to existing lifts, parking lot expansions, redesigned trail networks, and a poorly implemented rebrand.
The Noteworthy improvements consist of new lifts and lodges at places like Breckenridge, Copper, Solitude, Stevens Pass, and Whistler Blackcomb.
The substantial investments, which are defined as “headliner changes that we expect the vast majority of resort guests to prominently notice,” include terrain expansion and state-of-the-art lift replacements. These are happening at Aspen, Attitash, Big Sky, Brighton, Loon, Marmot Basin, Schweitzer, Snowbasin, Sunday River, Sun Valley, Taos, and Whiteface.
Game-Changing Investments are additions that will dramatically change the resort, and make it appeal to more guests. PeakRankings lists the game-changing investments at Keystone, Steamboat, and Sugarloaf.
