One of the biggest projects happening in Utah this offseason is the new DeMoisy Express at Snowbasin Resort. This new high-speed six-pack chairlift will reduce crowds at the Strawberry terrain pod, give easier access to the base area, and add new runs to the ski resort. The Leitner POMA chairlift will have an uphill capacity of 2400 guests per hour and a ride time of ten minutes.

Construction has gone smoothly this offseason despite the record snowfall. Last week, the lift towers were installed thanks to the assistance from a helicopter crew. Next up in the construction process is the completion of the top and bottom terminals.

They also shared a video of the helicopter work, with a great song choice of Panama by Van Halen. Panama! Panamaaaaaaaaaa.

In other Snowbasin news, they added a new snow stake last week. The new stake is thanks to their collaboration with Open Snow and shows its storm and 24-hour totals. A cool new feature is that it comes with a crank construction, so they raise the stake and cameras as the snow depth rises during the winter. In addition, the Snowbasin ridgeline artwork is a nice touch.

Other offseason projects for Snowbasin include new trails, the building of a patio at the base of the Strawberry Gondola, more boujee bathrooms at Grizzly Center, and additional parking spots. Click here to learn more about Snowbasins’ other offseason projects.
