The 2023-24 season is shaping up to be the best winter ever for Whiteface Mountain. Last Thursday, the New York ski resort announced that they’ll be installing a new detachable high-speed quad, which will open during the 2023-24 season.

The detachable quad chairlift will start nearby the Bear Den Lodge and will climb to the middle of Whiteface. There will be a mid-unloading station, providing beginners with more terrain to explore without putting them past their comfort zones. Its top terminal will be located next to the Legacy Lodge. Currently, reaching the upper mountain isn’t possible by lift if you’re over at Bear Den. Before this addition, guests needed to take one of the lifts, like Falcon Flyer or Coyote Cruiser.

Ultimately, the new lift provides easier means of accessing the whole mountain and provides more incentive for people to park over at the Bear Den base area.

The addition is one of the many changes that Whiteface has seen over the past couple of years. These improvements have included the new Legacy Lodge, snowmaking upgrades, and adding two new trails in 2021.

In terms of lift improvements, the Face underwent significant renovations in 2021, and the Cloudsplitter Gondola added sixty new cabins in 2020 & 2021. For new lifts, they added the Warhorse chairlift, which makes it easier for athletes and spectators to reach the racing course, and the Falcon Flyer, which helps make the learning experience easier for beginners.
