After receiving nearly 2 feet of snow throughout the past week and 8 inched throughout the past 24-hours, Purgatory Resort, located in Durango, Colorado, is ready to open their Hermosa Park Express lift this Saturday, providing access to the mountain’s beginner and intermediate backside terrain.

Along with their expansion of open terrain, Purgatory has announced their packed 2022/23 holiday schedule, featuring Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for the kids, scenic tours, parades, and more. The schedule is as follows:

Santa & Mrs. Claus Visit the Mountain: Thursday, Dec. 22 from 2 – 3:30 pm

Snowcat Scenic Tour: open daily, Dec. 17 – Jan. 8, 2023

Guided Snowshoe Tours: kicks off for the season Sat, Dec. 24

Inferno Mountain Coaster: opens for the season Sat, Dec. 24, weather permitting

Purgatory’s Tubing Hill: opens for the season on Sat, Dec. 24

New Year’s Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks Show: Sat, Dec. 31 from 6 – 6:30 pm

PSA Guided Cat Skiing: kicks off for the season Jan. 1

Purgatory is one of the most family-friendly ski resorts in Colorado, offering incredibly affordable lift tickets (under $100, sometimes as low as $42) based on a demand-based system. Kids 12 and under are eligible for the Power Kids Season Pass, too, giving them FREE skiing at 9 resorts throughout the United States, including Purgatory AND free mountain biking at 4 mountain bike parks. I’m not joking with this, it offers unlimited, free skiing and mountain biking at eligible mountains. Pretty darn good deal!
