One of the bigger downsides to car top carriers is their size. It’s really not that big of a deal, but when they’re off your car, they can take up a significant amount of space. When you’re on vacation, say a ski trip with the family, you can’t really take them off and put them in your hotel room when you reach your destination, sometimes preventing you from entering certain garages or drive-through. Again, NOT THAT BIG OF AN ISSUE. But, if you do agree that might issue, and maybe you’re looking to spend a little less money than you would on a hard shell box, Flated has your solution.

The Flated Air-Carrier is essentially the same as any other car top carrier, but, when you don’t need it, you can take it off the car and deflate it. It comes in three sizes. “Medium” sits at 30″ wide, 62″ long, and 20″ tall, the “large” is 34″ wide, 72″ long, and 20″ tall, and the “sport” is 22″ wide, 78″ long, and 20″ tall. All three sizes collapse into a small bag for easy storage, and it comes with an air pump, so you don’t have to go searching for one of those.

Installation is pretty easy with this product. Cars with cross bars can easily have the Air-Carrier installed with the built in straps but, if you don’t have cross bars, you can simply strap it down through your doors. Name another rooftop carrier that allows installation without cross bars! You don’t have to worry about fiddling with a difficult door to access the storage space, as the Air-Carrier features large openings on both sides.

The Air-Carrier starts at $629 and goes up to $719, making it one of the more affordable options in its category. If this interests you, you should check out their other products while you’re at it. They offer an inflatable truck topper, and inflatable car bed, and an inflatable dog crate.
