After a warm start to the month of November, the Northeast is currently in an extended snowmaking period. Additionally, it snowed last night, giving the mountains another boost. This has led most major ski resorts in New Hampshire to start making snow.
While some mountains like Cannon, Gunstock, Pats Peak, and Ragged Mountain are making snow to have an extensive trail count for their December openings, others are planning on getting the party started soon.
Bretton Woods and Loon Mountain usually duke it out for the first to open in the state, and they could be starting their seasons in the coming days. Some other possible November openings include Cranmore, Mt. Sunapee, and Wildcat Mountain.
WMUR checked in with various people in the New Hampshire ski industry this week to see how they’re handling the cold spell. The focus of the video is McIntyre Ski Area, which is a new Indy Pass allied partner.
McIntyre’s opening day is set for December 3rd, which is obviously weather dependent. Additionally, WMUR checked in with Jessica Keeler of SkiNH, and John Devivo, who is the General Manager of Cannon, to see how the snowmaking efforts are going.
