One of skiing’s most famous events is making its in-person comeback from Covid-19. Since 1978, the Sundance Film Festival has been one of the biggest independent film festivals on the planet, with showings in Park City, Salt Lake City, and Sundance Resort. Yesterday, the Sundance Institute announced key updates for their 2023 event, including that they will be having live, in-person screenings for the first time since 2020. The event will go from January 19-29, with nationwide online screenings beginning on January 24th. Health and safety protocols will be created with the latest guidance from the CDC.
Joana Vicente, CEO of the Sundance Institute, said the following about the 2023 festival:
“After two years of being apart, our priority is reuniting in person, while still sharing bold new films with audiences across the country through online access. We’ve designed this year’s Festival based on our learnings from previous years — embracing the traditions that have been meaningful in the past, while also looking toward accessibility for audiences and expanding the platform we provide our storytellers.”
