If you’ve ever wondered about the geology of Snowbird and Alta, this is a great video to watch.  Last year, geologist Shawn Willsey covered what makes Little Cottonwood Canyon so unique. The video covers how Little Cottonwood was originally a glacier that sat above Lake Bonneville, how the cooling of magma caused the distinct features of the canyon, the mining history, the remaining mine dumps, and what rocks are most common in Little Cottonwood.
