The video below can be hard to watch, but the woman was ultimately okay after this scary rock collapse on Mont Blanc. The group was climbing the mountain in July of 2020.

You can tell at the beginning of the video that this part of the climb is extremely exposed and they’re taking it one person at a time. Then, around the 30-second mark, the climbers begin to look uphill and begin shouting at the climber to brace herself for falling rocks.

She positions herself so her helmet and backpack will take the brute impact of any falling rocks. She then has to wait for minutes as large rocks come hurling down the mountain at her. It’s extremely scary to watch.

It looks like she avoided most of the larger rocks, but there were definitely some big impacts. Fast forward to the 2:36 mark of the video. A large rock hits her pack followed by a rock straight to the helmet. Brutal.

The video’s description says that she was evacuated from the mountain by helicopter, but that she was okay, and avoided any serious injuries.
