Missing ski season? These pictures and posts from Falls Creek may be the remedy for you. While a good portion of North America faces record high temperatures and drought conditions, ski season is well underway in the Southern Hemisphere. Falls Creek Alpine Resort in Australia opened for the season on June 11th and has been able to open up a good chunk of its terrain due to a strong snowmaking system and a moderate amount of snowfall recently. The mountain has an average snow depth of 36 cm(14 inches) and has ten of its fifteen lifts open. Over the weekend, they got some powder, including 12cm(4.72 inches) of snow overnight on July 3rd. On July 4th, they opened Scott’s Quad Chair after fifty-seven straight hours of snowmaking. Yesterday, they opened the Ruined Castle Quad Chair thanks to another snowmaking rush. Some beautiful photos and videos from the snowy weekend are below.
