“I pretty much thought when I got pregnant all my sponsors would drop me.”

After 13 years as one of the best freeskiers on the planet, Igrid Backstrom was worried her sponsors would drop her if she started a family. Drawing inspiration from other mountain athletes who are also moms, she knew the path forward to having a kid while remaining at the top of her sport would not be easy but was ultimately the best thing she has ever done. Lovely family.  Cheers to this crew.

Not sure that I know anything best—still trying to figure it all out—but that’s the fun part, right? However MY Mom definitely knew best because she and my Dad took us all up to @crystalmountain as much as possible when we were kids, while they volunteered on the ski patrol there throughout my childhood. So it was super fun to take our daughter to Crystal back in January for some skiing and her first ever chairlift ride with @tesswstrokes and her son for a family ski trip. It hadn’t snowed in a while but we had the best time because of the sweet terrain and the great company. You can watch more about it, plus me and Tess doing some aggressive bunnyslope snowplowing, in A Mother Knows (where the good skiing is at) Best, up now on www.powder.com.
