Moxy Hotels has opened its newest property in Japan at Niseko Village, bringing a 310-room hotel with direct ski-in and ski-out access to one of Asia’s most famous powder destinations.
Moxy Niseko Village officially opened on September 3rd, marking the brand’s fifth location in Japan and its first entry into the country’s alpine resort market. The hotel sits next to the Niseko Village Gondola at the base of Mount Niseko Annupuri, putting guests within steps of the ski resort’s terrain.
New Hotel Opens In The Heart Of Niseko
The new Moxy Niseko Village is designed around the brand’s social and playful approach while incorporating elements inspired by Hokkaido and Japanese culture.
According to Marriott International, the hotel’s design combines Moxy’s contemporary aesthetic with Japanese craftsmanship and pop culture influences. The interior concept draws on what the company calls the craft of play, incorporating colorful Kawaii-inspired details, nostalgic objects and artwork connected to Japan and the surrounding mountain environment.
The 310 guestrooms are designed to prioritize functionality and comfort, giving visitors a place to recover after skiing or exploring Hokkaido.
At the center of the property is Moxy Bar, which serves as a social gathering space for guests. Moxy Bar & Cafe provides food and drinks throughout the day, while Moxy Grab & Go offers snacks and beverages for travelers looking for a quicker option.
The hotel also features a 24-hour fitness center and an outdoor foot onsen where guests can relax after spending the day outdoors.
Direct Access To Niseko Skiing
The biggest draw for winter visitors is the hotel’s location within Niseko Village. Guests have direct ski-in and ski-out access and can reach the resort’s extensive terrain without relying on transportation from a separate lodging area.
The opening also comes ahead of a major lift upgrade planned for December 2026. Niseko Village is scheduled to introduce a new eight-person gondola that will double uplift capacity and improve access to more than 30 kilometers of ski terrain.
Niseko has become internationally recognized for its consistent powder snow, attracting skiers and snowboarders from around the world during the winter season. The new hotel places Moxy directly within that destination while also providing access to the area’s restaurants, shopping and onsen experiences.
Niseko Offers Year Round Adventure
Moxy Niseko Village is also targeting visitors outside the winter ski season. Hiking, cycling and golf are among the activities available during the warmer months, giving the property a four-season focus.
The hotel is approximately two hours from New Chitose International Airport. JR Niseko Station is about 10 minutes away, while JR Kutchan Station is approximately 20 minutes from the property.
The Niseko opening expands Moxy Hotels’ presence in Japan, following existing properties in Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto.
With direct slope access, a major new gondola arriving later this year and Niseko’s continued reputation as a global powder destination, Moxy Niseko Village is positioned to become a new lodging option for skiers and snowboarders visiting Hokkaido.
