What better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than by skiing or snowboarding (if you’re Canadian, what better way to celebrate a nice weekend than to go skiing and snowboarding)! Of course that’s not quite possible across most of North America, but there are at least 3 outdoor locations that are open for some form of on-snow skiing, including one in Canada.
Ski Areas Open This Weekend
Copper Mountain, Colorado – Today (July 3rd) is Copper Mountain’s Jib Jam, with an afternoon of skiing, snowboarding, and a live DJ at the Summer Hike Park from 12pm-2pm. If you can’t make it this afternoon, Copper’s Hike Park is still open Thursdays through Sundays for as long as conditions allow. Day tickets run $25, but keep in mind that this is a hike park, so there’s no lift access
Timberline Lodge, Oregon – Summer skiing and snowboarding continues 7 days a week at Timberline Lodge, with lift access via the Palmer Lift expected to continue into August. Lots of terrain winds up reserved for camps and athlete training, but there’s always at least one public lane available for those hoping to hone their skills through the warmer months.
Banff Sunshine Village, Alberta – The summer stretch of skiing and snowboarding officially comes to an end this weekend, with closing day being July 5th. Terrain is available off both the Strawberry Express and Standish Express chairlifts, and there’s currently around 7-8 trails open.
