Meteorologist Chris Tomer is tracking another round of mountain snow across parts of the western United States and Canada, with colder conditions already pushing into the northern Rockies. While the latest system is moving away, Tomer’s forecast points to additional snow chances in the coming days.
Snow Continues In The Northern Rockies
Tomer expects lingering snow across parts of British Columbia and Alberta over the next 12 to 24 hours. Higher elevations could pick up another one to three inches as the storm exits.
The focus is expected to remain around eastern British Columbia and western Alberta, with areas near Banff Sunshine Village potentially seeing additional flakes at elevation. Montana could also see another inch around the Big Sky area before the pattern winds down.
The system previously delivered light snow to high elevations around Glacier National Park and Crystal Mountain Resort.
Colorado And Utah Snow Chances Remain Limited
Farther south, Tomer is watching a moisture-rich pattern developing across Colorado and Utah. However temperatures remain too warm for widespread mountain snow in the near term.
The 10-day forecast shows substantial precipitation potential across both states, particularly over the higher terrain of Colorado and the High Uintas in Utah. Most of that precipitation is expected to fall as rain for now.
The forecast does show snow eventually returning to the highest elevations. Berthoud Pass could see roughly one to two inches toward the end of the extended forecast, while Big Sky could see around an inch or slightly more later this month.
