Two powerful beams of light will rise from Mount Washington in New Hampshire this week as part of a four-night tribute marking the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
The Honor Summit will illuminate the night sky from September 9th through September 12th, with the lights operating from 8pm until midnight each evening. The tribute is designed to honor those who lost their lives on September 11th, the first responders who answered the call, and veterans who continue to serve their communities.
Two Beams Will Rise From Mount Washington
The Honor Summit draws inspiration from the annual Tribute in Light in New York City, with two beams representing remembrance, resilience, gratitude, and unity.
The lights will shine from the summit of Mount Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast. Organizers say the beams will illuminate the sky roughly four and a half miles above the surrounding communities and could be visible across New Hampshire and beyond when weather conditions are clear.
The four-night event provides an opportunity for residents and visitors to pause and reflect on the events of September 11 and the people whose lives were changed by the attacks.
25 Years Since September 11
The 2026 event carries additional significance as the United States approaches the 25th anniversary of September 11th.
Organizers describe The Honor Summit as an effort to connect generations that experienced the attacks firsthand with those who have learned about them through history. The event encourages reflection on the nation’s past while emphasizing the values that can bring Americans together.
