Park City, Utah — An avid skier who left his mark on the ski industry passed away this month.
This week, it was announced that Timothy Henry Brennwald (known by friends as “Tim”) passed away unexpectedly on August 13th. He was 62 years old.
Tim was born in 1963 in Zurich, Switzerland. However, his family ended up moving to the United States early in his life. He then went to Vermont Academy, where he ski raced. After graduating, he studied at UMaine Farmington, where he earned a degree in Ski Area Management. This led him to a career in the ski industry.
Following his college graduation in 1986, he became the international technician on the World Cup circuit for Marker Ski Bindings. He advanced within the company over the years, becoming head of Marker’s Race Program and product development.
He then went on to work for POWDR, a ski resort management company that also operates other hospitality brands, such as national park concessions. POWDR owns ski resorts like Snowbird, Mt. Bachelor, and Copper Mountain. At the time of his death, he served as the company’s Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. He was a part of POWDR for seventeen years.
A celebration of life is scheduled for October 17th at 3 p.m. at Snowbird’s Cliff Lodge. Instead of flowers, his family is asking for snow and strong summer winds for sailing. Alternatively, you can make donations in his honor to Park City Ski & Snowboard. For more information about Tim’s life, you can read his full obituary here.
We here at Unofficial Networks send our condolences to the Brennwald family, along with the POWDR team, during this challenging time.
