Marius Quast attempts to come close to Marco Odermatt's alpine race time.

European ski instructor and YouTuber Marius Quast met up with Olympic gold medalist & three time Alpine World Cup champion Marco Odermatt. They discuss everything from Odermatt’s favorite ski areas to train and compete at, the types of skis he uses, and general tips to being a better skier.

The highlight of the clip comes when Quast, a very experienced “regular” skier, takes on the same race course as Odermatt, attempting to come as close to the professional’s time as possible. I won’t spoil it too much for you, but I will say that Quast puts down an impressive run.

(The video is available in German with English subtitles or dubbed into English. The subtitles felt like a better watch in my opinion, but it’s up to you.)

The FIS Alpine World Cup kicked off this past weekend in Sölden, Austria, with both a women’s and men’s Giant Slalom. On the men’s side, Norwegians dominated the podium, with Alexander Steen Olsen taking first, Henrik Kristofferson taking second, and Atle Lie McGrath taking third. Sadly Marco Odermatt skied out on the first run, winding up with a DNF for the opening event.
