Vancouver Canucks NHL prospects go rafting.

If you’re a big fan of the NHL, you know right now is a busy time for teams hoping to make a splash with trades, signings, and prospects. The draft was last week, free agency starts on July 1st, and development camps for prospects and other members of the many teams kicked off this week across the league.

Development camps are usually more of an introduction to the organization than a place specifically for prospects to compete for roster spots (that’s more training camp, which comes in September), and while most teams keep their development week on the ice and in the gym, some teams like to do some unique adventures. The Vancouver Canucks, for example, took their prospects river rafting.

Rafting is frequently used as a corporate retreat activity for team building and bonding, so it’s fair to assume that it would be a great team-building activity for an actual sports team as well. Many of these players will likely never make it to the NHL, but at least they’ve got this fantastic memory.
