Mt. Washington, New Hampshire — We’re now past the Summer Solstice, which means summer is underway in the Northern Hemisphere. For skiers and riders, the itch never goes away, even if it’s summer.

Technically, you can still go skiing in New Hampshire thanks to the remaining snow patches on Mt. Washington. These are most prevalent in Tuckerman Ravine, arguably the mecca of backcountry skiing. The quality of skiing peaks in April and May, with it being less than optimal in June due to melting snow and potential hazards.

Ava Dall and Blake Licata decided to check out the remaining snow for themselves on June 21st (the Summer Solstice). They actually got some good turns in, even if it was a short trip down.

If you do decide to head up there and check the remaining snow patches out yourself, please keep in mind that hazards still exist, such as crevasses. Also, as is the case year-round, the weather on Mt. Washington is always unpredictable.
