Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah — In theory, it was a bad ski season for Snowbird. A snow tally of 305 inches was well below its snow average (500″+ according to their website). This lack of snow resulted in a later-than-expected opening and an earlier-than-hoped-for closure.

But was it really that bad? As Snowbird states in the video below, they still received 305 inches of snow. That would be a dream tally for many ski resorts, even some of those out West. When mountains across the West were throwing in the towel weeks earlier than expected due to abnormally warm temps, Snowbird still had a strong base. When snowstorms finally came through, they were able to have a solid Spring season. Add in the fact that they opened the gorgeous new mid-mountain restaurant, The Nest, and there were certainly some highlights this past winter.

Work on capital projects for this offseason is currently underway, as the old Chickadee chairlift is being replaced with a SkyTrac fixed-grip quad chairlift.
