The winter ski and snowboard season officially came to an end in Canada back on Victoria Day, May 18th, when Whistler Blackcomb and Sommet Saint-Sauveur both celebrated their final day of the ski and snowboard season. Banff Sunshine Village also wrapped up operations after May 18th, but they’ve got a few bonus weeks planned and they’re not too far away.
From June 20th through July 5th, Banff Sunshine will reopen for skiers and snowboarders. That’s 16 days of true summer skiing and riding, and while the exact open terrain hasn’t been announced quite yet, they plan on spinning at least the Strawberry Express chairlift.
Anyone with a a 2026/27 Sunshine Season Pass, SkiBig3 Season Pass, Rocky Mountain Passport, or any guests staying at Banff’s only ski in, ski out hotel, Sunshine Mountain Lodge, will be able to ski or snowboard for free during these summer weeks. 2026/27 Midweek Pass Holders will be able to ski Monday to Thursday, and anyone with a 2025/26 Sunshine Season Pass, SkiBig3 pass, or Rocky Mountain Passport will receive a 50% discount on summer skiing lift tickets.
Those with 2025/26 and 2026/27 IKON and Mountain Collective passes will also be able to take advantage of a 50% discount on lift tickets. The window rate for tickets is currently set at $80 for adults ($40 with the discounts), $50 for youth an seniors, and $30 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and under ski for free. The Sunshine Mountain Lodge and Chimney Corner restaurant will open a day before skiing starts on June 19th, and the Strawberry Chairlift will be open from 8am to 4:30pm starting June 20th. The ski school, rentals, and day care will be closed for summer skiing, but plenty of restaurants and retail options will be open.
