If you’re a Colorado resident or visitor who’s interested in giving fishing a shot or getting back into the activity after a long break, this weekend is the time to do it.

This upcoming Saturday and Sunday, June 6th and 7th, Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites the public to participate in Free Fishing Weekend. Fishing license and Habitat Stamp requirements will be waived throughout the two days, making for a proper inclusive event.

Colorado is home to over 35 fish species, both warm and cold-water, living in some of the most scenic bodies of water in the country. Those participating in the free weekend can fish anywhere in 6,000 miles of streams and over 1,300 lakes and reservoirs.

The stocking report for Colorado, which shows where catchable trout of approximately 10″ were recently stocked throughout the state, is available here.

More information on Colorado’s fishing regulations and license fees can be found in the 2026 Colorado Fishing Brochure, and up to date information on fishing throughout the state is available through CPW’s Fishing eNews and Fishing Report. Happy fishing!
