Jackson, Wyoming — An accountant is in deep trouble over his actions taken while working at a Wyoming ski resort.

Cowboy State Daily reports that a former accountant of Snow King Mountain Resort is facing three felony charges over financial actions he took while working for the Jackson institution.

While being the accountant there, Kraig Steven Ketelsen allegedly stole more than $45,000 from the ski resort’s accounting systems. He would push invoices through multiple times, some of which were to a vendor account associated with him. This was done by sending vendor and direct deposit payments to his vendor bank accounts. The total embezzlement tally was $45,754.88.

Reportedly, Snow King’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and General Manager signed off on some of these transactions. However, their suspicions grew over time, as ski resort management eventually linked one of the vendor’s accounts to the accountant. The manager of the ski resort eventually caught wind of the situation and notified the local authorities.

Apparently, the individual was also a flight risk. Jackson’s police department discovered that he made frequent trips to South American countries like Brazil, Colombia, and Panama. Authorities met with him after he returned from a one-month trip to Brazil, eventually resulting in him being arrested. He was released from prison on a surety bond.

If he’s found guilty, he could face up to three decades in prison, along with a maximum $30,000 fine.
