On Saturday, May 16th, a hiker fell about 50 feet from Haystack Rock on Washington’s Mount Si, sustaining a head injury and calling for help. The King County Sheriff Air Support responded, pushing through wind, snow, and clouds at 4,100 feet to conduct the rescue.

Despite the difficult conditions, the crew was able to access the injured hiker a a break in the weather appeared, successfully rescuing him and flying him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The impressive and intense rescue was filmed and later shared by the staff.

Mount Si is among the most popular hikes in the state of Washington, with a close proximity to Seattle, stunning views, old growth forests, and much more making it a top choice for those looking to get outside. According to the Washington Trails Association, the hike to the top of Mount Si is around 8 miles roundtrip with 3,150 feet of elevation gain.
