Vermont — The snow melt that comes with springtime certainly doesn’t thrill skiers and riders, but it does excite kayakers. The heavy water flow creates some fast-pacing rapids, resulting in some brave sends.

In a video shared earlier this month by Tiller Johnson, he showed how epic the tides can be in the Gihon River. Situated in Northern Vermont, the Gihon River has IV-V rapids. He starts with sending a major dam waterfall, which he uses like a waterslide to glide back into the river. The rest of the video features fast rapids, sends through waterfalls, and a decent amount of paddling. Add in a few swear words, and viewers are in for an epic journey.

It should be noted that these are seasoned pros, and taking on rapids like this requires years of experience. Kayaking on a tranquil lake is a whole lot different than this. Did I mention how cold the water is? Even with a wetsuit, it feels brisk.

Take it from someone who dabbled in kayaking back in the day: this isn’t easy, and getting yourself in a sticky situation can happen frequently.
