Mt. Washington, New Hampshire — Fresh off the premiere of a documentary that detailed the risks of skiing Tuckerman Ravine, someone decided to risk it all on the Headwall.

Last weekend saw a couple of prime days to ski Tuckerman Ravine, meaning it’s officially the peak time to ski there. This led to some bold sends.

A skier tested out the snow on the Headwall this past weekend and tried to pull off a 360 jump off a huge rock. While he pulled off the rotation, he wasn’t able to handle the steep landing. The person rag-dolled down the slope, but luckily appeared to come away unscathed.

The person who shared the video, Adrian Hayden, said the following about the crash:

Not to be that person, but Tuckerman Ravine isn’t really the place to be ‘testing your limits’ if you don’t already have the skills to back it up. The terrain and conditions there can get serious fast, and it’s not just about the individual—it puts other people, including rescue teams, in difficult and sometimes dangerous situations. There’s a difference between pushing yourself and being unprepared, and it’s pretty obvious when that line gets crossed.”

Somebody said in the comments section that Adrian should stick to groomers, but based on his IG reels, he probably has the right to say what he said.

While it’s a bit of a dramatic Instagram comment (ragebait, as they say these days), and it may not apply to that skier, I do agree with the general sentiment. If you suffer a nasty crash at Tucks, the price can be pretty major, as getting to the hospital isn’t easy. However, the other side of the argument is that there’s no true way to prepare for a jump like that. Tuckerman Ravine is one of a kind, and preparing for it is a difficult endeavor.
