Peru, Vermont โ€” Have you ever complained about a lift’s delayed opening? I certainly have, which I shouldn’t admit because it contradicts the point I’m trying to make here. But there are various instances where delayed openings make sense, and lift mechanics prove their worth.

Sunday in Vermont saw delayed lift openings due to a mix of precipitation. An example of what lift mechanics faced was seen at Killington, where their lifts were covered in ice.

Let’s head a little bit south to Bromley Mountain Resort. The Vermont ski resort shared a video of their efforts, as crews climbed lift towers to clear off the ice. They used equipment like hammers to break down the ice. This job isn’t for the timid, as they clearly aren’t afraid of heights. Their hard work allowed Bromley to have their lifts operate on Sunday.

If you ranked ski resort workers, I’d argue that lift mechanics and ski patrollers would be at the top due to their importance. Shoutout to Kayla, Darren, Chris, Jim, and Kevin for their hard work in keeping Bromley operational. Currently, Bromley Mountain Resort has 29 out of 47 trails open, and 4 lifts are operating.
