Neat little story out the great state of Montana where the folks from the Bureau of Land Management teamed up with Billings based artist Rilie Tanรฉ Zumbrennen to spruce up a few vault toilets at Pompeys Pillar National Monument, Sundance Lodge Recreation Area and Shepherd Ah-Nei Recreation Area.

Inspired by the wildlife and landscapes from the plains to the mountains, Rilie is prolific when it comes to large scale art having painted 75 murals both residential and commercial. This fall she applied her considerable talents to somewhat unlikely canvases, the walls of four of the recreational areas’ vault toilets. Each western themed mural celebrates the wildlife, scenery, and outdoor fun.

“Weโ€™re excited to keep this colorful partnership going and bring more creativity to unexpected places.” -Bureau of Land Management

Cheers to Rilie on all of her artistic pursuits whether it be 3-story tall murals or the walls of a vault toilet. If you’re interested in buying or commissioning a piece find more information here. Here is a small sampling of Rilie’s art that can be found around Montana and throughout the west:
