Flagstaff, Arizona โ A La Niรฑa winter typically means cold and snowy weather for the Pacific Northwest, and warm and dry weather for the Southwest. However, that hasn’t been the case so far this winter. Just ask the folks over at Arizona Snowbowl.
The Arizona ski resort started its season on November 20th, thanks to an over three-foot snowstorm. While the open terrain at the start was limited, it has gradually expanded to impressive coverage.
Currently, Arizona Snowbowl has 93% of its terrain open (57 trails), and all of its lifts are operating. This is thanks to 60″ of natural snow, along with snowmaking efforts. Pretty impressive for early December.
This could be the start of a very long season at Snowbowl. They skied until June in the past two ski seasons, so it seems likely that this winter will be another one to remember.
About Arizona Snowbowl
Situated on Mount Humphreys, Arizona Snowbowl is probably the most famous ski resort in the state. The ski resort features 61 trails, 8 lifts, and a vertical drop of 2,800 feet. This past offseason, Snowbowl cleared up its woods to open up more tree skiing and made snowmaking upgrades around the Humphreys chairlift.
