The Alaska State Troopers report the body of a second man from a group of three heli-skiers buried in an avalanche last March near Girdwood was recovered on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025:
“On November 2, 2025, DPS HELO 3 and a recovery team from the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group were able to recover human remains from the slide area. The remains were taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification. Next of kin have been notified. The man’s identity will be released publicly once his identity has been positively confirmed.” -Alaska State Troopers
The recovery of the second victim comes almost exactly a month after Alaska State Troopers recovered the body of 39-year-old David Linder in a log jam in a river flowing under the avalanche slide area about 10 miles south down the Seward Highway from Girdwood near the west fork of Twentymile River. The third member of the group remains missing. Our thoughts are with the victims’ family and friends.
