Leap for the ham.
Leap for the ham.

A climbing festival in an ancient, walled Spanish city is wildly cool on its own. Throw in this competition in which climbers attempt to leap for a ham, and you’ve got what could be the best climbing festival ever.

This festival in Morella, Castellรณn, in Spain is organized by local climbers. Over 200 people of all ages attend the festival, featuring climbing, dinner, and dancing throughout the entire night. The ham competition is simple enough. Climb up the wall and leap for the ham. Of course it’s no where near as easy as it sounds.

The ancient castle in Morella was built in the 14th century. It features gothic churches and hermitages, in addition to ancient prisons. There’s also ancient cave paintings just 6km from Morella. You can learn more about Morella and its history here.
