Copper Mountain is one of the few ski resorts in North America that offers skiing and snowboarding all summer long through Woodward Copper. To get a look at Copper’s process for keeping their popular Summer Camp going throughout the warmer months, PistenBully North America met with Operator Phil Pereira as he works on the mountain’s summer terrain park.

Woodward Copper Summer Camp

Woodward Copper Summer Camp is an action sports getaway for kids ages 7-17. It provides week-long overnight camp sessions for skiing and snowboarding on real Colorado snow. Plus the camp offers access to the resort’s 19,400 sq. ft. indoor training facility featuring skateparks, Olympic-grade trampolines, foam pit jumps, indoor ski and snowboard training, and more.

Summer camp sessions start on June 1st and run into August. This year, sessions cost between $2,095 and $2,595. If you hope to send your kid to the Woodward Copper Summer Camp next summer, keep in mind that they must be able to turn and stop on advanced green and easier blue terrain in order to attend. Skiers should be comfortable linking turns under moderate speed. Snowboarders should be able to link turns at moderate speed on steep green/easier blues.

The mountain also offers two weeks of Woodward Copper adult summer camps, one in May and one in August. Participants are provided with on-snow access and coaching and video analysis. Barn training sessions are an option as well.

Summer Hike Park At Copper Mountain

For those who aren’t campers, Copper Mountain’s summer hike park is a great option to get on snow. The hike park every Friday through Sunday as long as conditions allow (right now closing date is set for September 8th). It’s located in Center Village between the American Eagle and American Flyer lifts. You must bring your own gear as rentals are not offered throughout the summer. Tickets are available for $25 a day.
